This page explains the basic privacy approach for LendAFile.com.
Information used to operate sharing tools and Rooms
LendAFile stores the selected duration, temporary token hashes, file records, and uploaded files needed to operate Quick Share. Quick Request additionally stores a request title, creator display name, protected Room record, and request activity. Collaborative Rooms store their title, encrypted code data, display names, files, notes, and activity. Optional Room passwords are stored as one-way hashes rather than readable passwords.
No-account access and anonymity
Creating or joining a room does not require a LendAFile account or email address, but participants enter a display name. No-account access is not a guarantee of anonymity or untraceable use. The hosting environment may also create ordinary access, error, security, or network logs.
Room expiry
Free-room content is removed when its selected time ends. Premium-room content remains protected during a renewal window equal to 10% of the reserved duration and is removed if the room is not renewed. Recipients can download or copy content while a room is available, so expiry cannot revoke copies they already made.
Room transcript downloads
An authorized Room participant may generate a PDF snapshot of the conversation history that is still available under the Room's existing access and retention rules. A transcript may contain Room details, participant display names, text messages or notes, timestamps, and recorded join, leave, or rejoin events. Shared files are represented only by safe metadata placeholders; their contents, private storage paths, and secure download tokens are not embedded.
Generated PDFs are streamed to the requesting participant. If the administrator enables temporary caching, PDFs are held only in a private server temporary directory for the configured short lifetime. Operational monitoring stores counts, timing, page totals, outcome, and a protected requester hash, but not transcript text, participant names, filenames, Room codes, or file contents. Generating a transcript does not extend Room storage.
Quick Share and Quick Request expiry
Quick Share files and Quick Request uploads are temporary. The first 10 minutes are free; longer selected durations may require payment. Expiry removes public access and the temporary stored files, but it cannot remove copies that a recipient already downloaded.
Approximate Quick Share location activity
When a Quick Share is created or downloaded, LendAFile may use a locally installed IP geolocation database to record an approximate city and country for security and activity reporting. The lookup happens on the LendAFile server and the visitor IP address is not sent to a geolocation API. LendAFile stores a protected one-way IP fingerprint with the location snapshot rather than displaying the raw IP address. IP-derived locations can be inaccurate, particularly on mobile networks, corporate connections, proxies, or VPNs. Quick Share location data is removed when its Quick Share record is deleted.
Archived service statistics
After room content is removed, LendAFile may retain an archived operational record containing the room title, creator display name, selected duration, file and text counts, total bytes, closure reason, and recorded activity descriptions. These records support service statistics and administration and can be deleted by the administrator. They do not retain the uploaded file contents or saved text contents.
Contact messages
When you use the contact form, LendAFile stores the name, email address, and message you submit so the operator can review and respond to the request.
Free file tools
Browser calculators keep their entered values on the device. Optimized image compression, direct-URL downloading, and webpage-to-PDF conversion may use LendAFile server processing. ZIP packaging, image and Office conversion, OCR, PDF text and page rendering, spreadsheet export, video screenshots, and speech transcription run in the browser; the source stays on the device and only the generated result plus safe source metadata is sent to LendAFile for temporary storage. File results are stored temporarily outside direct public access, addressed through a session-bound token, and expire after the configured result period or are marked consumed after transfer to a Room or Quick Share. URL requests are limited to public HTTP(S) destinations. When Chromium is available, webpage PDFs preserve the rendered public page; otherwise a sanitized reader-style fallback is used. The service records operational result metadata such as tool type, filename, detected MIME type, size, status, and expiry, but does not intentionally send filenames or entered URLs to Google Analytics.
Analytics
LendAFile uses Google Analytics on the public website to understand visits, site performance, and privacy-safe product steps such as starting or creating a room, joining a room, uploading or downloading a file, viewing premium pricing, and progressing through Paddle checkout. Checkout analytics may include a general plan label, one-time billing period, transaction currency, and confirmed value. LendAFile does not load Google Analytics in the private administration area and does not intentionally send room codes, filenames, file contents, display names, email addresses, payment-card information, Paddle tokens, transaction identifiers, secret-bearing URLs, or other payment secrets as analytics parameters. Google may process device, browser, interaction, and network information under its own privacy terms and available consent or browser controls.
Authorized internal reporting clients can read aggregate product totals and time-series data through a restricted reporting interface. Reports contain counts and summed revenue, not room codes, file names, file contents, user display names, email addresses, raw IP addresses, checkout tokens, or payment credentials. Access is scoped, rate limited, and recorded in a security log.
Advertising
Eligible public informational pages may load administrator-approved Monetag advertising tags. Private and transactional flows—including Rooms, Quick Share, Quick Request, payments, checkout status, webhooks, API endpoints, administration, and setup—are excluded from advertising. Third-party advertising providers may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies; their processing is separate from temporary room contents.
An optional paid Ad-Free Pass suppresses advertising controlled by LendAFile for the purchased period. LendAFile stores a signed, HTTP-only browser cookie containing an opaque purchase reference and uses a keyed one-way network fingerprint as a limited recovery fallback. The entitlement record contains its duration, aggregate price and currency, payment status, and expiry; it does not store payment-card details.
